Default CF2 versus Microdrive

When I purchase the Minolta Dimage 7i I was planning on ordering a 512 CF2 card versus the microdrive card. Am I on the right track? I expect to get about 224 shots on the CF2 card.

Check eBay, there are lots of great deals on 512MB and 1GB size CF cards right now. The market is flooded and the prices are very low - $100 for 512MB and about $225 for 1GB cards. I'd stay away from the old original 1GB SanDisk card it is very slow, but the newer Samsung, Dane Electric and Transcend cards are very fast.

Microdrives used to be nice but now CF solid state memory is the same price or cheaper - and no moving parts to break.

I'd stay with the CF. My experience with Microdrives taught me they are too weak

I have two microdrives (360M & 1G) and like them. The major advantage of the microdrive was price: used to be much less than half the price of solid state memory. As Steve noted, that has changed in the last couple of years so I doubt that I would buy a microdrive now.
