Looking to purchase a large lense for wildlife to go on a Sony A200. Here is a lense I am considering, Sigma 50 - 500MM F4-6.3 EX DG Dony.Would this be a decent lense for wildlife/birding? As the Sony A200 has IS will this give good pictures if the lense is not IS.

This seems to be a really well liked lens on the newer Sony DSLR bodies from reports I've seen.

Here's an album you may want to look through. Gil (the photographer) took all of these images using a hand held "Bigma" (Sigma 50-500mm) with a Sony A700. He's got multiple pages of bird images (including Birds in Flight) in this album.

If you run your mouse cursor over the right side of an image, you'll see a menu choice for "Photo Info" (which will tell you the focal length, aperture, ISO speed, shutter speed).
