Default Seeking advice re: 3mp camera choice, any ideas?

I am in the market for a 3mp digital cam in the US$300 price range and am asking for any useful feedback. Have already visited the forum and see some great comments there. I Have only been looking for one week, am amazed to see some folks researching for longer periods, it tells me I have some way to go. Obviously wonderful sites like this one and the UK one I've seen help a lot, and I have seen some reviews which help a great deal. Compact cam size is meaningful and I didn't especially like the "handle" on the A70 but I see that others think it's a positive attribute. I do like many of the A70 features. I really like the size and shape of the CoolPix 3100 and the LC33. Does anyone have info relating to the color performance of the LC33 as compared with the excellent Canons? Don't know exactly what features will turn out to be the most desirable (before I started looking I had not even considered mini-movies in such a device; now I can see that I might use that feature. Does someone have a suggestion for another camera similar to these which I might have overlooked? I have ruled out the desirable Sony DSCP52 only because the lens protrudes and I really want something which will fit in a small space. 9/25 I am editing this to add that the DSCP72 is also a contender, many positive remarks about this one but most disliked feature: the navigation and the Memory Sticks! Would appreciate any suggestions or preferences. Thanks

Browsing at the review of the A70 at DPreview.com, I just found out that it leads all cameras in battery uptime, up to 5 hours! The next one coming close to it only has 2 hours and a half uptime.

Although it really isn't compact when you look at it, but from several reviews, I read being too compact will often result in shakiness.

What I'm figuring out now is should I wait before Thanksgiving so prices would come down... Especially since the A80 is coming out.

I would suggest looking at pics from both cameras taken by "normal" people as oppposed to more profesional shots. I have some A70 shots up in my gallery actually, they're all A70 shots except for the Older pics. Then, head over to http://pbase.com Do a search...by camera type and, find the cameras you're looking for and, you can view pics taken by all 3 that way.

Love your website. Is that a band??
