Default Canon A-60 or Nikon 2100

Finally narrowed my choice between these two cameras, taking into account needs, availability here, price, my pockets, etc.

As the specifications of these cameras are so similar, can you help me with the election?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, same indecision and finally made it on A 60... The reasons are;

* AF asist lamp..therefore better "low light" performance..
* Better battery time (comes from the usage of 4 AA instead of 2 in cp2100)
*Much more metallical view than cp2100 phsically..
*Better software..

In fact cp 2100 has some advantages against a60 (comes with a original charger, better zoom capability, outdoor image quality is better in some ways etc) but belive me you cant decide it until you take both cameras in your hands and examine.. Fortunately, a few months ago i had a chance to see both cameras (even a80!) closely, took some pics, saw the results in a digital devices fair, and this really helped me for the selection..

You know, I hate to say it because I used Nikon SLR's exclusively for 20 years but to me, their lower end digital cameras just don't cut it. I agree with iason too about the AF lamp and the batteries. I believe the flash in the Canon is a little stronger too.
I know the Nikons are decent cameras but those little plastic bodies and, tiny lenses always remind me of a toy.
I always suggest you look at pics from both cameras online though and draw your own conclusions as which ones appeal to you more. To me, that's what made my decision to buy my Canon.

I think the Nikon looks better than the Canon... 8)
Although I'll pick the Canon out of the two...
