Default Camera Screen Protectors

Do any of you use/recommend any sort of lcd screen protector. I see that they market some for cameras that are similar to the PDA screen protectors commonly in use. Good idea or not?

The reason why PDAs use screen protectors is people write on them...it's very easy to pick up a piece of grit on the end of the stylus (the tool used for writing on the screen) and then when write with the stylus you scratch the PDA's glass screen.

Many people, especially lefties, leave prints on the screen (lefties leave nose prints as the camera is created for a right-handed, right-eyed world). You can trim off some PDA screen protector, but it does cut down on the visability a little.

I'm a leftie, and it can be really irritating getting nose prints on the LCD...

I'm a leftie too!

I use a screen protector - can't say I've noticed that much degredation in visibility.

Damn nose prints are annoying though

And also right-handed but left-eyed people like me leave nose prints. But my thumb works wonders and it's cheaper than a screen protector I would end up wiping with my thumb as well.

[Edit after reading reply below] My camera doesn't have the LCD exposed. There is an outer plastic lens that I wouldn't care too much if it get scratched from normal use. Some cameras seem to have the actual LCD screen exposed.

In some cameras (the one I have is one, the Canon 10D) the screen is already protected. This clearly isn't the case in all cameras, though.

I've heard the PDA screen cover being used as well.

The canon A60 & A70 have the actual screen covered by a large piece of clear plastic that is _very_ easily scratched. I'd recommend using protectors on these models - I do. Fortunately I did my homework before buying and heard others' complaints about how easily scratched they are... I placed a protective sheet on it right after I bought it.
