Default 5MP question, recommendation needed

I'm looking at getting my first digital camera. I want to get a good quality camera that will last for a long time and will be able to adequately replace my film Canon Rebel 2000. Something in the $300-450 range would be great. My wife and I both shoot pictures and have no particular needs other than a good quality camera that will take pictures of sufficient quality to blow selected pictures up to 8x10 or whatever size for framing.

I'm a "computer guy" so more features=good, if they're useful. Accompanying software is not a big issue as I already have Photoshop and similar tools.

Could anyone look over the list below and give me some recommendations? Also, if there are any cameras in my price range that I'm overlooking, I'd like to know that as well.

I've looked online at Sam's Club. They seem to have two viable alternatives:
Hewlett Packard PS 935 w/ dock for $414
Olympus C-50 for $390

Best Buy has the following alternatives:
Kodak EasyShare 5.0 DX4530 for $349
Sony Cyber-shot 5.0 DSC-P92 for $380
Olympus Camedia C-5000 Zoom for $450

Circuit City has the following alternatives:
Hewlett Packard PS 935 w/o dock for $350
Minolta DiMAGE G500 5.0 for $380
Sony Cyber-shot 5.0 DSCP10 for $450

Other stores I've looked in have similar prices for these same cameras.

Circuit City carries the Kodak DX6490, 4mp, 10X optical zoom and this camera takes great pics.

I would also consider the Canon A80. They're available now at Best Buy and many other stores.

Rotating / swiveling LCD, 4mp, 3x zoom, auto, program, and full manual modes, 3 minute video clips with sound, sells for $399.

I have an A70 and kinda wish the 80 had come out 4 months sooner .
