Default Buying 1st Digital Camera - Help, Please

After spending hours researching digital cameras on this site and others, I still have a couple of basic questions...

I've pretty much decided to buy the Canon Powershot A60. My only use for the camera will be taking indoor photos of items for display on eBay. It seems that a 2 megapixel camera is adequate for this purpose, but I've not been able to find a definitive recommendation for the A60 or any other 2 megapixel camera. Will I get good auction images from the A60?

In line with keeping expenses to a minimum, I don't want to invest in accessories, not even rechargeable batteries, since I don't expect to be taking more than 100-150 pictures weekly. And these pictures will be taken at a 'normal' quality setting. Given my requirements, do I really need anything but the camera?

The best price I've found online for the A60 is at www.6ave.com. Has anyone done business with this merchant? I'd prefer to buy the camera locally, since companies like Circuit City and WalMart have better return policies, but 6ave.com beats local prices by around $50.

Thanks very much for the help!

I think you will find the A60 will be more than you need for Ebay pictures.

I agree, the a60 is more than you need for ebay shots. You probably could get something cheaper that would work fine as you do not need 2mp for ebay, but the a60 will make getting good shots eaiser and it will give you more versatility than a cheaper camera. It also makes a great multi purpose camera. You might find you like using it elsewhere.
As far as accesories, you will not have to use max resolution for ebay so the small cf card that comes with it might sufice. If you buy alkaline batteries in bulk it should work fine but if you are shooting that many ebay pics I would consider a charger and rechargables. Walmart has a rayovac charger for 12$ that is pretty good and charges individual cells. You should be able to easilly find a set of nimh for under 10$. In the long run in will more than pay for itself and will give you the freedom to use it all you want without buying batteries.
There are other things that might help with shots for ebay like a tripod (20$ from wal mart) or a mini tripod (should be able to find one for 10$ or less). a macro lens can help with very smal items too. These things are of course not nessasary and you should be able to get shots fine without them. It's just a thought for future accesories.

You may also want to look at the responses in this thread (someone else looking for a camera for Ebay use):

I suggested a reconditioned Nikon Coolpix 2500 ($119.95 at Ritz now). You won't find a camera with a better macro mode at anywhere near it's price. It also includes a rechargeable battery and charger.
