Default clueless about how to use the digicam

Hi.

I am a total newbie. I bought a Nikon Coolpix 2500 just yesterday and i had never used a digicam before.

My questions are:

- when I am composing the picture through the LCD screen (2500 doesnt have viewfinder) it looks darker and blurry, especially when I am indoors or at night. But when I take the picture, it comes out clear (luckily).

- When I use the close-up scene the camera makes a buzzing sound, even when I am not touching anuthing.

I wonder if those are normal. Please help me!

Thanks.

Hi Choco...

Welcome to the forum

I may be all wet here but your LCD viewer may not match
the quality of your lens and sensor so what you see is
not what you get.

You may also want to check the manual or talk to Nikon tech support or the salesperson where you bought your camera.

I second that! I think most beginner's forget to look for something called a "Manual". It comes with just about any product nowadays and manufacturers tend to overdo themselves in explaining the features of the product you just bought. Although, it IS the manual, and it wouldn't hurt reading it, especially if you're a newbie.

I suspect that the sound you are hearing is the auto focus function for the lens. I am providing you a link to Nikon users support

http://www.nikonians.com/

It is a free site but you may find help at this site about your camera. Also check the Nikon link on this site.

Thanks for the replies.

Before my initial post, I read the manual that comes with my camera and didn't find anything related and that's why I wrote here.

I am going to talk with the sales person.

It's perfectly normal for it to be difficult to see the LCD in lower light. Your camera probably includes a brightness adjustment (under one of the menus) that may help, too.

As someone else already mentioned, you're probably hearing your camera's focus mechanism.

I'd have to find a manual to be sure, but most Nikons have a "continuous focus" mode (focuses continuously, which is probably what you are hearing, when the camera is in this mode).
