Default One quick question before I place my order

I am determined to buy Fuji S5000. But, during my research, I created a list of following cameras:

1. Fuji S5000
2. Olympus C740UZ
3. Olympus C750UZ
4. Toshiba PDR-M700
5. Minolta Dimage Z1

I will probably place my order today so that I can have it for this coming gathering this week. My budget is < $400.

Should I reconsider any of those other models up there? Please help! I will mostly be taken pictures at gatherings, trips, few night shots, etc. I know Olympus' don't have AF-illuminator for night-pic assistant, but, has that been a problem? How about Toshiba and Minolta? What do you people think of them? Is my choice of S5000 still good? Please help me. I will really appreciate it.

Thank you.

In my opinion, the Olympus C-750UZ has the best image quality by far, out of the cameras you are considering.

I'd check out the Fuji S5000 review at http://www.dpreview.com before placing your order. You'll get 3MP resolution from this model, with the interpolated mode not helping anything (Phil Askey recommends shooting in the 3MP mode, based on his resolution chart tests).

You may also want to read the reviews at http://www.imaging-resource.com for these two models. IMO, the Olympus is a MUCH better performer compared to the others.

You'll get better photos, with higher 4MP resolution from the C-750UZ. Note: resolution (pixels) is not the only thing to consider in a camera model. However, I personally think the Oly performs better in other categories as well (metering, color, useability, etc.)

No camera is perfect for all users. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses. The Fuji may be a good choice for your needs. But, if you want to better resolution (more detail from photos, better autoexposure algorithms, etc.), the Oly is the better choice IMO.

I have used the C740 and S5000 and would rate the S5000 over the Olympus camera. The C750 has some additional features and cost that may make you this choice. I do not think you would be disappointed with the S5000 but the C750 is a better camera.

Thank you for your feedbacks. I actually went for S5000. Already ordered one, and waiting eagerly for its arrival.
