Default 5 mp Kodak for $299

I was in Best Buy today and saw the 5 mp Kodak Digital Camera for $299 on sale. I also checked out the Nikon Coolpix3100 and Canon A70 and found the Coolpix to be very, very small. I liked the A70 which is a 3mp but am wondering if I should go for the 5mp just for the fact its the same price and a 5mp. I am looking to just take pictures of the kids and just everyday things so the 5mp would be more than I need.
I did like the Kodak camera and A70, should the deciding factor be the 5mp? Any negatives to the Kodaks?

For most casual users 3-megapixels is sufficient to print 4x6" to 8x10" size photos. Pick the camera that you like when you hold it in your hand and look through the viewfinder and play with the controls. Don't get caught in megapixels.
