Default Focus distance question

hi. this may be a dumb question, but i need help understanding focus distance. in the specs below does this mean that the camera can be xx away from photo subject? for instance if the camera was set on the macro telephoto setting-does this mean i could be 2.3 feet away from photo subject? any closer would render an unfocused photo?

thanks for your help!

Normal:
Wide: Approx. 70 cm / 2.3 ft. to infinity
Telephoto: Approx. 2.5 m / 8.2 ft. to infinity

Macro:
Wide: Approx. 10 cm - 1 m / 3.9 in. - 3.3 ft.
Telephoto: Approx. 70 cm - 3.5 m / 2.3 ft. - 11.5 ft.

Super Macro: Approx. 1 cm - 30 cm / 0.4 in. - 1 ft.

I'm not sure what lens you have - But it appears to be a zoom lens. This means that in the widest settings of that mode you can focus as close as 3.9 inches, and up to 3.3 feet. If you extend the lens to it's maximum focal length, you are THEN limited to 2.3 to 11.5 feet. Note that in Macro mode, and maximum focal length, you cannot focus on anything further than 11.5 feet away.

This is in fact self explanatory.

Yes. In Normal mode, the camera can focus on anything from 8.2 ft. to infinity. In Macro mode, it can focus as close as 2.3 ft. but it can't focus to infinity anymore, so its furthest focusing distance is only 11.5 ft.
