The exif says you were using iso400, 1/50 and f/5.9. Can't imagine why you'd pick iso 400 for this shot, but maybe your camera was set to that already.

Here's what I'd do: your camera does ev compensation in 1/3 increments. I'd try a minus ev of 1/3, 2/3, etc until the lcd showed something too dark. then i'd run it thru autoHDR and turn up shadows. next time i want the shot, i'd be able to get it with only a couple of tries. (i'm not sure how easy it is to do ev comp on your camera. if it's a bunch of work, maybe this idea won't be usable).

but i'm not even suggesting your second shot was bad. actually, i like it.

Thank you...I actually left it by mistake at ISO 400, since I'm not used to always veryfying the settings before taking a shot !

I was already thinking of doing an HDR...yes, my cam has very nice EV compensation !
