Default Forum help - can I stay logged in for more than 10 minutes?

I'm new to the forum and have noticed that I keep getting logged out when trying to create or reply to a post. I can't seem to find any settings in the User CP for how long to stay logged in. This seems to happen in both FireFox 3.6 and IE 8.

Am I missing something?

IIRC, when you log in, there is a box to check to stay logged in unless you specifically log out. Otherwise, every time you leave the site, you will need to log in again.
Today, I have been getting a number of messages from Firefox saying the connection to the server has been reset. If I wasn't set to stay logged in, I would get logged off every time that happens.
Hope this helps.

While true that I normally don't select things like "remember me", this is happening when I don't leave the site at all. I try to use as few cookies as possible and prefer to log in each time I return to a site that I've left.

You may have set some security preferences that are preventing your browser from staying logged in. What you might try is to set *.steves-digicams.com as a trusted site.

We have the forums set so that login sessions automatically expire after 15 minutes of inactivity. That setting helps us to get a better idea of the number of forum users online at a given time (versus settings that show a higher number of concurrently logged in users, even if they're not looking at the posts and threads in the forums). So, if you don't do anything (read posts, etc.), you'll have to log in again after your session expires each time if you don't check the Remember me box at the time you log in.

Thanks for the clarification. There were a couple times I started posts and got sidetracked for a bit before completing the post. The delays must've put me past that 15-minute cutoff point, which would explain my experience. Thanks again.

Happens to me all the time on various forums. Sometimes i lose what I've typed, sometimes I copy it before submitting and can just paste it in after logging back in. usually, if I've lost a lot, I just let it go.
