Default Poor exposures and AF Non-Assist lamp!! A80

I ve bought an A80 and just love the capabilities and the feel! But I find it difficult to get exposures correctly in whatever mode I shoot! The mid tones are not exposed well! Always have to go to photoshop to coorect them!
The Af assist lamp also does not help in dark conditions to get the focus right any means!

Can someone tell me whether these are model specific or something wrong with my camera? Is there a remedy for this?

I have a feeling that your problem is in the camera settings. I bought this camera for my daughter-in-law and it takes correctly exposed photos. It's important to read and understand the owners manual that came with the camera, try experimenting with the various camera controls and see what happens. Possibly what you are trying to focus on in the dark is beyond the range of the focus assist lamp.
