Default Need the experts advice

I pretty much know nothing about digital cameras other than the real basics. I'm going to be purchasing a digital camera as a gift for a friend of mine, and I was wondering what a good brand and model would be. My price range is between $300-$400. The camera will be used mostly for taking pictures cars, wilderness, etc. The camera will be used outdoors about 80% of time. Also my friend that I'm buying the camera for is a very knowledgable person when it comes to computers and electronics. Thanks

Let him pick the camera, and offer to pay for it.

If he is knowledgable, he probably has already an idea of what he wants, and nine times out of ten you wil give the wrong camera. Maybe he wants something a bit more expensive, and wants to pay for the rest himself.

I know that it's nicer to give a present, but in the end this works out for the best.

Make a voucher, so that its clear what you're giving.

I'd rather buy it for him and if he doesn' t like it then he can return it. I'll give him the receipt and tell him he can do whatever he wants with it.
