In the WORLD? Let me guess, you're doing a school paper on it. I'm not aware however, of any "world" reports out there.

All I can offer is that the Canon digital Rebel (300D) and the Canon A70 are both extremely popular (top sellers) in the U.S. and U.K., but beyond that, I'll leave it up to others.

Current five best digital imagers? Here you go.

Pase One H25
Leaf Vaelo 22
Sinar Sinarback 54
Jenoptik Eyelike Precision M22
Megavision S4

All around 22 megapixels and cost in the 30,000$

Not the answer you expeted?

Actually most will lease, monthly payment is around the same as for a car.

Myself I can't stand SUV's I think most are plain ugly and next to useless.
For normal travel I get the smallest car I can find, and for moving stuff I have a truck that seems to get about a mile to a tankfull . :?

SUV's have just one thing they're good at: parking on either side of me at the supermarket. When I come out of the store, I can't see my car and have to waste time thinking it was stolen.

The top camera in the world better be either the one you already own or the one you can afford to buy. Otherwise, you're going to be a very unhappy person.

My husband has a truck just like yours, Peter.

I think you missed the Hubble - only a few hundred million$ plus maintenance costs. And I'd bet on the folks whose name is made up of some strange combination of letters and numbers have some real high class cameras floating about as well. They ain't gonna tell us about them though.

So I'd say that it is not possible to know what the top five digital imagers are.

Ya, the hubble would be nice but hard to carry around

Too bad it is being de-commisioned, its life expectancy is only until the next breakdown. No further repairs for it.

Those other guys, apparently they say they don't exist, or else....

Go right ahead. Just don't park them on either side of a picture of my car.
