Default Minolta Dimage 7 at auction

I'm as green as grass used to be when we wattered our lawns. I've been trying to buy a great camera at a good price without getting beat up for two weeks. This afternoon Gary Senkus lead me to a Minolta Dimage 7, factory refurbished with a 6 month warranty offered at ubid. With Gary's help I was able to buy it at auction for $619, $17.99 shipping. I can hardly wait. Thanks, Gary.

I think you'll have a lot of fun learning to use your new toy. Give us a report when you get a chance to use it and don't hesitate to ask the collective experience around here for help.

The latest free upgrade is 121u. You can get the 122u that comes with the PCT-100 pretty easily and it has a fix for the viewfinder when using external flash in manual mode. The 200u firmware is an optional upgrade you have to pay for.

Good luck with the new digicam! It will be quite a blast if you like gadgets.

Is it normal to charge for the firmware? You can't just download the software for free and not get CD's?

I followed the link above and will Lynn need to order a package or would the auction camera have the latest?

It just seems $50-100 is excessive.

Actually it's only $50, and it sure beats at having to buy a D7i... which I gladly would for just the real-time histogram function alone! The additional Direct Manual Focus overide is way COOL! especially combined with the 4x mode...
