Yeah, they're watchable on a computer, though they are no substitute for the real deal vid cameras.

On my Canon A70, the 30 second 640x480 @ 15fps limit comes out in decent quality. After compressing the format to DivX, I get a nice set of 2-5 meg files at pretty good quality. Here's a sample of when some friends and I were playing a board game and we got caught for cheating =)

There's also an option for a 3 minute capture at 320x240 resolution, but I find that quality unacceptable. I save my video captures for good short moments and hence prefer the higher quality

If you checked out steve's reviews on the Nikon Coolpix 8700, a little movie clip was posted within the stills.

I think the results speak for themself

very cool, thanks for the clips. however, the camera(s) I am looking into shoot clips at 320x240 at 15 fps. im not buying a camera for movie cababilities but it would still be nice to have the ability to shoot some small clips. how will movies turn out with this resolution? any samples? thanks in advance

My Canon powershot A60 shoots video at that size. Look at the A60 review and check the sample photo page to see a clip.
