Hi,

just got me powershot a75. ive been practicing with it for the past couple of days. i noticed that its having a hard time focusing indoors. the light beside the viewfinder is most of the time red. when its green pictures a lot better.

is there any setting to the camera i could do to make it shoot better indoors?

hoping to hear your input.

What are you pointing the camera at? Focus requires contrast. A smothly painted wall will not be a good target for AF. But if you point it at a light switch (which has edges and shadows) should work.

Another thing you could do is shine a flashlight (torch) at the spot you are trying to focus on, push the shutter release part way to focus and lock, turn off or move flashlight out of picture, and shoot. The flashlight should provide enough illumation for the auto-focus.

My 4-D-cell Mag doesn't provide enough light for my S1 IS to autofocus... but then maybe it's because the batteries in my flashlight are almost dead...
