Default Sorry, but...

...I need a frank, honest and one-for-a-lifetime answer from all you digicam veterans Is there REALLY no difference between a 4M and 5M camera in smaller formats (both on the screen and in the printout)? I am going nuts trying to choose my first digital camera. I want a good quality and I am prepared to pay for it, but if I really wouldn't be mad if I could save a hundred or two.

Default Difference

Are you asking can you achieve great photos with a 4 mp and avoid the additional cost of a 5mp camera?

The answer is you can have great photos with the 4 mp camera!

Once you get to 3 megapixel, if you're only talking about computer display or printing no larger than 8X10, the biggest advantage of the higher resolutions is how much you can crop and still have a good photo. A good 5X or greater zoom lens will benefit you much more than the extra pixels.
