Default Formet fujifilm 1400 Zoom?? Help!

I have a Fujifilm Finepix 1400 Zoom. Was doing OK for few months-downloading to PC etc. Was using a 4 MB chip . Chip was full . Was going to clear it- wqs in erase mode. Instead of "single frame" I used "erase all." Now nothing works! just beeps. Message says "Format."
I tried posting earlier--can't find post. Need info on how to re-format.
Thanks,
Gary Williamson

I don't have a 1400. But if you have the manual, the instructions are on page 46, or get them here if you've lost it.

Incidentally, 4Mb flash is a bit small only giving 12 pics normal res. Things are more likely to go wrong with frequently wiping/erasing small cards to fit images on.

Thanks.
After formatting, when I turn on the camera, a red light flashes & beeps & then a green light comes on. If I do anything--try to take a picture or use zoom, a red light beeps again & will not allow me to zoom or take a picture.
I have ried this several times.

The red light on, means the is the cam writing to the card.

Have you set up a hi-res pic mode by accident? and the cam is taking longer to store the pic than you expect? Try changing to the lowest resolution (smallest file, more pics on card). If that doesn't work. I suggest you borrow or buy a (bigger) card say 8 or16 mb if the cam will take it (they are V.cheap now) and try again.
