Hey folks,

:?I'm a beginner with photography. I've got a Pentax s-40 and I'd like to understand how I can compensate for the problems I hear people talking about (ie. over/under-exposure). I've heard someone say to use the AE spot measuring or infinite mode. I have absolutely no idea what this means. Can someone walk me through it step by step so I can understand how to do this. Also, someone said to EV shift more. Well, again I have no idea what this means. Thanks in advance for your help.:??:?

Participating in online forums is a step in the right direction for newbie photographers but nothing is going to replace reading as much as you can and experimenting with your equipment. You can find a wealth of free information online, such as "Digital Photography" by Dennis Curtin http://209.196.177.41/ , also check your local library.

As for your specific question I'll let another member better suited to pedagogy answer it or you can read Curtin's online course.

Thanks for the advice. I've discovered the web tutorial mentioned and it'll help for sure. Once I do my homework I'll be able to use this forum to get some morespecific information.
