I'm having an issue with the 15kb size a file needs to be in order to upload as an avatar isn't that file size just a bit small

Mine is 71 x 79 pixels and 1,791 bytes. You should be able to do 200 x 200 and get well under 15KB! Make sure you get rid of the EXIF infothough as that will take up more of the file size than the image.

As small as an avator is, you should be able to get a good one in the size allowed.

If you don't have an editor that lets you downsize easily, try something like Irfanview (free from http://www.irfanview.com ). You'll see an Image, Resize/Resample Menu choice.

After resizing, if you use the "Save As" menu choice, you'll see options for compression (lower quality=higher compression=smaller file size) so that you can get the file size down to what's needed. You can also uncheck the boxes for retaining the EXIF, IPTC and JPEG comments if desired.

One of these days, I'm going to get around to using an Avator. ;-)

I see you did it. Real nice avatar. I'll bet the full sized picture is GREAT. I like the colors.

I have phtoshop 5.0, I go under the HELP area and resize for online web...

once you "save as" you can adjust the quality to reduce the file.
