being a newbie, just thought I would ask a newbie question...to take quality b&w pix with a digital (d70 on order) is it only a matter of changing a setrting in the camera for best results and then tweaking a printer to print only black, white and gray tones. If this is something that will be on the first page of any instruction manual, I apologize beforehand..coming from b&w film theatre (nikon f4) I was just wondering. thanx ahead of time.

The D70 dosen't have an option to take black and white pics. You need to take your picture in colour and convert to B&W on the computer. You can just convert to a grey scale but this is not the best way to get good B&W photos.

Take a look at the tutorial on this website for how to convert using photoshop http://www.hertz-ladiges.com/modules...ge&pid=152

When printing B&W I set my printer to B&W and photoquality.
