Default Would the FinePix 2650 be a good camera for me?

Hi all,

I'm new to digital cameras and read the review on the 2650 from Fuji and am interested in that camera. However, I'm not sure if that would be the best camera for me.

Here is a rundown of what I'm looking for:

under 200 bucks
2 - 2.3 Megapixal camera
3x zoom
indoor and outdoor use and good in dim light
memory card media upgradable to at least 128MB
at least a 1.5 inch LCD
USB transfer

I am a Japanese animation fan and go to conventions of this strange hobby of mine and I take pics of people in costume (often with lots of detail). Sometimes the photos are indoors (dim lighting) and sometimes outdoors.

I would prefer if the photos not blur if the subject is moving

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Joe Boeing

Based on specifications you have provided, the camera should meet your needs. Read Steve's reveiw on the camera. Shooting moving objects requires practice. You need to press the shutter button halfway, track the object with the camera and then depress the shutter button completely. Indoor shooting will require that you use the built in flash.

If you are taking lots of flash pictures under uncontrolled conditions, I would consider the Canon PowerShot A40 which has a focus-assist light and variable ISO settings. I'm not too confident about the Fuji's focusing abilities under poor lighting conditions.

Thanks guys, I got the Fuji Finepix 2650 off ebay with a charger + batteries, carry case and and 32 MB xD card for 197.00.

I looked at the Power Shot A40 but it was to expensive.

Thanks,
Joe
