Default Freezing image without flash

Is it possible to take a picture without the flash on but turn the Shutter Speed up fairly high to not have the picture to come out blury?

For the Minolta I think the highest is 1/1000 Sec

In principle the answer is yes, but you will need to compensate by opening up the aperture (using a lower f stop number) otherwise the result might be black images! Your camera requires a certain amount of light in order to produce a usable image. In simple terms, the amount of light admitted to the camera is determined by shutter speed and aperture setting. The faster the shutter speed the wider the aperture needs to be to admit the same amount of light. You might find it useful to read up a little about the principles of photography.
