Yes the Sigma ex tc has a protruding element. It is just not quite as protruding as the Canon.

So the Sigma will fit on Canon lenses that accept TC's, but the Canon TC will not fit on Sigma EX lenses that accept TC's (except apparently it may fitthe 120-300 F2.8 )

Other brands like kenko and Tamron SPwill fit any lens, butdo cost a stop or two of light which with a slow lens can be problematic (camera may not auto-focus).TCgenerallycost in image quality as well, more so when used with lenses not designed to take them.

Their price should also give something away :-)The kenko/Tamorn generic TC's can be found in the 100$-150$cdn range. The matched Canon/Sigma are in the 350$-450$cdn. range.

Thanks for info, its such alot to take in but im getting their slowly, i have decided to go in for another lense.regards.
