Default another confused guy needing some advice

Hi!
I am new in here and as u all would guess a novice as far as selecting my digital camera is concerned.
Well to be precise my budget is upto $250..if i get a real good deal or else a little lower.
this will be my first digital camera....and the functions I ned are as follows:
1. I would be only keeping the softcopies of the pictures and no printing is necessary

2. the quality should be good for viewing it on the screen

3. an LCd screen to display what is being shot would be great!!!

what else!!...hmm I guess nothing except for that I really need ur suggestion cause I need to buy it before christmas

Hoping to hear from u all pros pretty soon

Thank You
Dave

Don't worry a lot - there are very few really bad cameras out there. Do some price based shopping, then read the reviews just to make sure you aren't looking at one of the rare lemons.

In terms of your budget - figure on getting a bunch of memory as well.

well with not enough time in my hand I finally bought the Fuji finepix 2650.....and I liked all its features....the picture quality also seems fine and 16+ 32Mb free card with it for $200 I think it isnt a bad deal if not the best...also the camera is simple ot use i could understandd almost all the features even without watching the manual....also it works pretty well as a webcam ....and even with the worst quality i.e. 0.33 MP u can get quite a reasonable picutr to send it back home through email....which was my purpose....
and certainly the ones with 2MP were excellent.....
thank you

$250 will buy you a Canon A40. Nice, 2 MP camera.
