Default How many shots with SM 128 card?

I'm considering a D40 purchase for it's compact size and more features than the C50. Can anyone tell me how many images will fit on the 128 mb SM card when shooting at highest resolution? That's it's one weakness, I think. Thanks.

High resolution is a weakness? Since When?

MY WAG say about 10. But if you shop well online you can get the 12X 256's for about $110.00.

good luck

Jim is correct the number will be around 10. Why are you needing to shoot in the TIFF format? The SHQ mode on the D40 will provide very high quality pics. I shoot in the HQ mode and have excellent results. There is minor quality loss between Tiff and SHQ compression. At SHQ you can take 50 shots @ 128 sm. At HQ you can take 130 shots.

Thanks, fellas. Phil, your're right, of course. I meant highest res. jpeg. I have always shot SHQ and 50 shots will be enough. I may try HQ with the 4 mp camera and stick with it for most shots.

I've never been able to detect any differance between HQ and SHQ on my C700. I would try both and see for yourself. If you don't see any differance, nobody else will. I use HQ and get 256 on a 128 card at 2MP.
