Default Help~ on considering...

Hi, i am new here

And i want to buy E-20. But it's price is still expensive! I can buy a second hand D30/ S1 pro for that price. So should I buy a 2nd hand E-20 instead,

Or reconsider other cameras, 'ause other cameras with 5megapixels like 5050 or cp5000 is way cheaper then that!

thx~ i am newbie

I have seen some fine images from the E20. You can buy it for $1,198.00 online. For a little less than that you can get the Nikon
5700 which has more telephoto (8 times) and an ED glass lens.

I thought about the E20 myself before I bought the Nikon 5700 and
I think i did the right thing, but who knows.

What will be the usage of the camera?

Hi Jim.

I want to buy E-20 to take some scenes and landscape during vacation. And to learn about photography is my main purpose. So want to consider a SLR camera. But E-20 is expensive still.

And sometimes I would need to add an external flash because I usually take photos in celebrities at school. So fast focusing should be needed i think.

Thx~

Default What about Fuji S602

Wondering if you have looked into the Fuji S602Z? I spent hours - no maybe days researching for landscape, kids, sports camera and I wanted and SLR type but the price held me back also. I finally ordered the S602 yesterday.
One of the main selling points for me was the fast focus for sports. the hot shoe for external flash and the PRICE ($450 on line)
Check it out!
I can't wait to get mine :P

Yes Trudy, I liked the S602 alot too, my friend has used it before and the colour is so sharp! And the 6x zoom lense is great too! But the thing me and my friend disappointed is no E-TTL external flash......this is not so convenient cause we uses the external flash often. So Auto flash is an important thing to consider about. Therefore I choose others....if not. S602 is probably the best camera before DSLRs!

Hi Bunny

Keep searching for you E-20.

You will find one.

If you go to olympusamerica.com, they sometimes have
them there. In stock now at:

https://emporium.olympus.com/innards...asp?sku=225315

Recently, Overstock.com had E-20s for sale
but not at this time.

You might also try bhphotovideo.com for used
one (none there now).

You might look at Ebay for one. Several on
sale there. Caveat Emptor (Buyer be(a)ware).
I suggest one with:

USA warranty - transferable.
Ideally, seller would be someone local so
you could examine camera prior to sale.

Also, I would suggest one or more digipower 9000
lithium batteries. Check these out at:

http://www.mizco.com/DPS-9000.htm

They are fantastic! Since you mentioned that you
wanted to do some inside shots w/external flash
this is the way to go.

I have one now and shot three hours of flash shots
with lots of views of LCD post shot. It only used up
20% of its power (lighted buttons at left let you know
how much power is left). Also, they screw on to tripod
mount and have mount on battery.

Good luck, Bunny!

You might want to consider the Olympus C5050. Sounds like the 1.8 lens and hot shoe (TTL flash) would work great for what you need.

yup! thats good too

so I am considering E-20 and 5050...

E-20: shutter can go to 8 minutes - 1/18000 but c5050 just 16s - 1/1000. Manual zoom ring and focusing ring, metal camera body..etc

c5050: cheaper, compact, but quite good quality on simple snap shots...etc

Hey digcamfan: are you guys talking about the OLYMPUS E20 :?:

If you go to Nikonusa.com, they sometimes have
refurbished models there (No E-20s at present).
Nikonusa actually has refurbished olympus cameras?
