Default How many MP's do I need if only posting on the web?

I want a digi-cam but I don't want to spend too much. At the same time I want good quality. I will only be posting my pics on the web and email. I don't think I will actually print anything.

I have seen sample pics from several different cams and I can tell the difference between 2MP and 3.2MP and 4MP, but when they are at full size. When they are cropped its harder to tell the difference.

I prefer the Compact Flash format of cards.

What do you suggest for MP's I need and wich cams would you recommend?

Hi Wing Zero,

I have two answers to your question. For web work a 2MP camera is good enough as you will have to reduce the filesize so it uploads and downloads quickly on the net. No one is going to hang around waiting for a 600k or 700k image to appear on their screen. But you will be surprised how quickly your desire to take only pictures for the web turns into wanting to print them out and you may want to look at 3MP cameras.

Wing Zero

You could even find a 1 mp camera to do the work you have stated. You can find this camera at the Olympus refurb site:

Rimbo has a valid point. The digital camera may drive you to use your camera for other photo opportunties. I would look at a 2mp, 3X optical zoom. You can find other Olympus refurbs at:
