I have just bought the Aosta DV310 from Ebay for my daughter as a xmas present. I have plugged the USB port into the computer but it doesnt seem to be reading or acknowledging that the camera is attached. I want to download some mp3 onto the camera for her. Can anyone help. I have no / little knowledge in this area.

You haven't said what Operating System you are using. Windows XP should recognise most cameras with no problems, but if you are using an older system, like Windows 98, you may need to install a driver - this should be included on a CD which came with the camera.

When you have the camera plugged into the computer, can you see it listed as a removable drive in 'My Computer'? Click 'Start' then 'My Computer'....

Thanks for your reply. I have Windows XP - & - in My Computer the camera does not show up at all - there are only A & D drive listed as removeable drives. I have installed the device driver & I know the USB Port is working properly. Any other suggestions?

Is this a laptop? I'm not sure why A and D are listed as 'removeable drives'. If it is a laptop with removeable drives, then this is OK. If you have a desktop system, I'm not convinced that A and D should be listed as removeable drives...

Assuming it is a laptop, is it the sort where you can have either the floppy or a CD drive, but not both at the same time? If this is the case, then are you sure that the D drive you see listed as a removeable drive isn't the camera? The reason I ask is that in 'My Computer', a camera will show up as: X:removable drive where X will be the next available drive letter after your floppy, HDD, CD/DVD drives. It isn't immediately obvious that what you are looking at is the camera... One way to check this is to open 'My Computer' before plugging your camera in. Any new drive appearing will be the camera. You might need to go to the desktop and back to My Computer again to see the change...

If this isn't the problem and you are sure your USB port is working (try them all), I'm not sure - it could be the cable (unlikely, as it's new). Do you have the camera switched on? (Silly question - sounds like an insult, but I promise it can happen to anyone) If it is on, do you have any switches on it which might need to be in a particular position?

You might need to try a forum specialising in PC problems - I can recommend cybertechhelp.com...

I also just purchased the same camera from eBay. Same as you my computer doesn't recognise that its plugged in. I'm running Windows 2000 pro. I've installed the drivers for it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled them a number of times. I've checked all usb ports (all fine). I've tried to search the net for other drivers for it. I'm a bit suss about the ones provided because whenIwent to remove the drivers through the control panel it gave me an option to view "support information" and when I go to that, it is an islam search site.

I've tried to contact the seller on eBay, by phone and email repeatedly. Answereing machine and no reply.

One other thing, I'm wondering if when I turn the camera on to pc mode to plug it into usb port, it comes up with two options like in the manual, pc mode and mass storage mode, when you press up and down that works, but won't let me select either option.

If you (or anyone else) has figured this out, I'd really appreciate any help!

I had a friend at work take a look at this. He got it working by getting the computer to accept it like a removable device in the USB Port (just like a memory stick). I just keep taking it out and putting it back into the USB port until it reads it, sometimes over and over - up to 5-7 times. I found i have to wait a few minutes sometimes before it will read it / accept it.

I have no problems at all once the computer picks it up. Must be in PC storage mode - make sure the camera is turned on. You cannot select PC Storage Mode (just make sure your camera is turned on in this mode)- the computer just works from there once it reads your camera. Two files come up - one for video / photo's and one for MP3 player. These folders are displayed when you click on your device in my computer - you have to then download MP3 songs into the MP3 folder. Download video clips / photos from the other folderto a folder of your choice on your own computer.

It has been a really good device - now i have it fully functional.

All the hours I've spent trying to figure it out and you helped me get it in 2 mins. Now I've got that, can you tell me if it works as a webcam. I don't want a webcam, I don't need one, just want to know if it works, cos it said it would in the description. Thanks again for your help.
