I just bought from Beach Camera online a Canon SD500. I bought it mainly due to the recommendations from a non-photography board and Steve's favorable review. I have never had any sort of camera in my life and hardly even know how to take a picture!

I want to know if I made a good choice in cameras being such a novice. I can cancel my order and get something else, but I just want something that I can learn on. Decent choice?

All of the SD series cameras are very nice, take excellent pictures and are small so you can always have them with you (no camera takes good pictures when you leave it home!). Just one word to the wise -- buy the Canon hard leather case for it -- this will protect the lens and LCD whenthe camera is in your pocket.

If you want some picture taking tips - such as how to expose well in "auto" mode, how to take good pictures in low light, and things like composition, check out

That has most of the tips I would know to give.
