Default CF card write speeds

I'm going to buy a digicam, and I have to choose the CF card.
Is there any difference between "low speed" or "ultra speed" cards?
Will I notice any difference in normal shooting? Or will I appreciate the Ultra speed only during continuous shooting?

Thanks for your answers.

In jpeg mode you'll not see any difference, the camera normally buffer up the shots (the blinking LED might stay on longer), and write to the flash @ a slower pace.

May be, depending on how fast the jpeg sequence is and the camera own internal buffer. In raw/tiff or movie mode for sure you'll see a difference in the waiting time between shots since the camera buffer will be totally full because of the bigger file sizes!

However most consumer cameras are just so slow by design that the extra speed would just go to waste! (unless again you just wanted to go to the movie mode and test the wait time betwen clips    )
