Default Newbie help for dad with active son!!

A little overwhelmed with data and need to get something for the wifes bday (although i will be using it )

Can anybody recommend something in the $300-400 range? For a camera newbie.

Need good indoor and outdoor (Florida sunny  )
and for a fast moving subject (2 1/2 yr old boy  )

I've looked at the oly 3020 and C4000 also the canon s30 and the Nikon 880. I would like good pics, for printing, burning, blowing up, etc. Oh, also would like it to be sturdy, but not too big

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I used to have a 3020 and sold it for my 730. Wish I hadn't as the 3020 gives very pleasing noiseless clean images. It'll do you just fine and ain't too expensive.

Thanks for the quick answer. Amazon has the 3020 as discontinued. Do you know if it is? Or any other suggestions??

Thanks.

It's discond in the UK, don't know about the US.

The C4000 replaced it and is highly regarded.

also consider the 730
