Default I need a new Camera, Please Help

HI, I'm sure this has been addressed before but, I need help on selecting a new camera. I have a Sony Cybershot 3.2 but don't find the colors or camera decisions on when to use the flash very good. I'd like a camera I can adjust but also one that you can just point and shoot and get a good picture. I'd like a lot of optical zoom, better than 3 mega pixals and I think the cd format looks convenient. Price wise a $1,000 or less would work. Any suggestions???

Well cannon just released thier new camera for 1500. But seriously for under 1k I'd probably opt out for a G3 cannon camera. If you wait till next year the prices should be down even lower.

Trips, always with family in them. Landscapes with people.
People, indoors and out too.
Thanks

Default Camera Suggestion

Hello,

I have the Canon S400. You can get it for about $450 to $500, get an extended 5 year warranty for $80, extra battery for $35 and plenty of CF cards, case, etc. for under $1000 and you will be happy.

I love it, I can take it everywhere (it is tiny), takes great shots and is fast.

It has the CCD as the G3 but does not have all the manual controls. But you do have some manual controls.

If you want to see sample go take a look at my gallery I have started. Just make sure you look under the pictures though, about 3 or 4 were taken on an older camera.

Here is the linK:

Let me know what you think,

If you want optical zoom, I'd suggest getting a camera that can take add-on lenses. For under one grand i'd get the oly c5050 or the canon g3 and a couple of add-on lenses. If you don't want to deal with the hassle of using add-ons, then I'd wait for the oly c750 which i think is 4mp and has a 10x optical zoom
