Hi Everyone,

I have an S1-IS, and have had it since they came out. I cannot afford to upgrade to the S2 or S3, so I would instead like to buy a lens or two, which will give me greater zoom/angle capabilities.

I have little to no knowledge of photography/lenses, so I'm wondering what I should be looking for in a lens. A telephoto lens is my first priority.

Will I gain much getting a 2x zoom vs a 3x zoom?

Obviously, with the 3.2Mp rating of this camera, my images at distance are not going to be all that great, so I was hoping by adding a lens, I could aid this a bit. The digital zoom feature of the camera simply captures USELESS pictures - they are hideously bloomed and blurry.

Any help or insight is *greatly* appreciated.

I have an S1 IS. What you may want is something like the Canon TC-DC52B 1.6x teleconverter. I don't know of any 3x teleconverters for the S1 IS although I think you might could find a 2x.

A teleconverter is not a zoom. You continue to use the camera's zoom lens, and the teleconverter will provide extra magnification.
