Hi All,

Im new here.
Just a quick question.
My friend lost his USB cable for his camera.
Its a Mini 5-pin on the other end to USB on the other.

My question is, will any USB cable work as long as it fits?
Please notice the encircled area on photo attached to this thread.
Does anyone know what for is that part of the cable?
Will a cable without that part work?

Thanks in advance.

I think that thing is a resister to limit or regulate the power going into the camera. I would only use the manufacture's cord. I'm sure you can order one from the camera maker.

This is My guess so I'm waiting for more answers to say I may be wrong.

The item circled is a ferrite core and is used to supress RF eminations.
Any cable with the correct fittings will work just fine.

You may use any USB cable as long as it fits the camera. The trick is to make sure you get the right pin count (and configuration) on the camera end of the cable.

He has this cable from his old card reader that doesnt work already. Fits perfectly. We'll just use it. Thanks for clarifying.
