Default Nikon 995 - results too blue

Embarrasing question probably but used Nikon Coolpix 995, have problems with results in manual mode.
Even using the same settings as Automatic the results show strong blue tone.
A lot of the time, not all, the EXIF info in Photoshop shows lighting mode as 'Tungsten/Incandescant' whereas my white balance settings are on Auto.

Can anyone please help a desperate newbie

Thanks

You need to go into your menu and change the white balance for manual mode to either something resembling the actual lighting or auto. The camera "thinks" you are taking the photo under indoor incandescent lighting and is shifting the white balance accordingly. Check your manual and change the white balance and everything should look normal again.

Let us assume that your 995 is perfect working order. Getting too much blue is likely due to the fact that the white balance detection system of the camera fails to sense the change of color temperature. You might want to (1) reset EVERYTHING setting and try again, and/or (2) use the White Balance Present mode. Take a look at my 995 user guide for the details.
