Matte or Glossy Prints?

An interesting post in the "Ask Marilyn" section of this week's PARADE Magazine.

Interesting, but I don't necessarily agree. Framed photos are viewed straight on, so the matte finish doesn't diminish the sharpness of the image. In addition, a glossy print will foster reflections within the glass, which will diminish the contrast of the image. Lastly, glossy photos are more likely to stick to the glass, and portions that are stuck will look different from the portions that aren't stuck (or haven't yet.)

Good comments.

Inks bleed into matte paper, and this does cause some loss of edge sharpness, but it isn't usually a problem at normal viewing distances.
Photos sticking to glass? Shame on you for even considering mounting your prints without a matte between the print and the glass!
