Default Nikon 4500 VS. G2 or G3

I currently own a CP4500 and really like it except the LCD screen has gotten pretty scratched even with use of a case and a lot of care. I use it a lot for macro work...shooting jewelry as well as scenic shots. Because of the wear on the LCD, I am looking at the G2 or G3 which I understand are both great. Thy have a protective cover for the LCD. I Have heard though that macro isn't as good and that it has a plastic body vs the mag alloy of the 4500. Any thougts would be appreciated!

You might post this in the Canon forum!

The CP4500 is (IMO) considered as one of the best macroshooters - and the best in its class. You should not expect anything better on the G2 og G3.The G3 only goes down to 6cm in the same focal length as the CP4500
