Sorry, maybe a bit out of topic:

What is the designed life of a bulti-in flash usually? i.e. the firing count?

And what's the replacement cost (if beyond warranty)?

I've never had a flash fail. I assume it should be expected to last the lifetime of the camera. It is probably not a cheap repair, and likely not worth doing. If it did fail, you could just add one of the external speedlights (which is a good idea anyway).

I was taking photos indoors and the flash was working fine. I clicked off four photos but then on the fifth shot there was no flash. I hadn't changed any settings on the camera, it's just like the flash gave up the ghost.

Anyway, I took it back to the shop today and they have sent it off to be repaired under warranty.

So, now I'm without my camera. :sad:
