I know the d5200 has not arrived yet, but could someone tell me the difference between the d3200 and the d5200 camera's. Would one be better than the other, or are they both about the same? Thanks for any feedback.

While they both have the same 24MP sensor, there are multiple differences between them. The D5200 has a better metering system, and the D5200 has a 39 point AF system (with 9 cross type sensors) while the D3200 has only 11 (only one being a cross type sensor.) The D3200 can capture images at a rate of 4 fps, while the D5200 can work at either 3 fps or 5 fps. Teh D5200 also has more customized exposure modes. The D5200 can also do exposure or white balance bracketing, while the D3200 can't. The D5200 also has more options when shooting video.

So if I didn't care for the other options except for maybe the metering system they are basically the same? Thanks for your opinion.

The big differences are the exposure and AF systems, plus the D5200 has more options that are attractive to more experienced photographers. But, yeah, they are basically the same.
