I know this can be done with the expensive SLR cameras....

Is there a cable available that will allow me to connect my camera and laptop, so that when I take a photo it saves directly into my laptop instead of the camera's memory card?

My camera is a Nikon Coolpix L4 and my laptop is a MacBook.

I am actually from the eBay Photo/HTML forums, and I am trying to see if this is even possible for the member. The above was his exact question.

Thanks for any advise or suggestions.

No. Unless there's some program out there I haven't heard of.

Camera Control Pro v. 2 runs on everything from the D40 to the D3.

Here's something interesting. An SD card that will wi-fi your image to your computer. Transmitter's built into the card. Hundred bucks US. I've seen mention (reviews, online and magazine) of the D60 having the capability to use it. But there's nothing about it in my D60 manual, and I've never heard that from any Nikon sources, so I'm rather suspicious about that claim. And, of course, that's the *only* Nikon I've even heard mentioned.

This item isn't made by Nikon, so you're not going to find any info from Nikon about whether or not this card would be supported. From what I've heard, this card is difficult to configure, has very short range and is expensive for what you get.

I thouht that Nikon capture editor saved directly to the hard drive.I just did it. It is in the download options box of your Nikon Capture Camera Control. just point it to a folder and your pictures will be saved there. Good luck to you.
