I am running the trial version and the Digital DEE is unavailable (red cross instead of green check mark). Is it normal?

I need to hghlight some underexposed areas and do the reverse on overexposed ones. Is it the best way to do it (after I figure out how to make it work)?

Also, does anybody know how to save jpeg from Photoshop 6 after Photoshop 6 has read a NEF file. This is important to me as I sometimes use ofoto for printing and they only accept jpeg. There are lot of Capture 4 features accessible through PS6 so I am still hesitating about buying Capture but I need the save to jpeg feature at least.

The red x is the default. Click on it to apply the DEE settings. If it is unavailable, as it is in non-Nikon Photos, it would be grayed out. Move the shadow and highlight adjustment sliders to independently adjust these areas of the photo. The Help Topics have a good explanation of how to use Digital DEE.
