I was looking up the differences between CCD and CMOS sensors today and found the opposite of what I was expecting. This site http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question362.htm[/url]seems to indicate that CCD are better but if that is so why are the CMOS put into the more expensive cameras and vice versa. I am obviously missing something.

high iso performance. CMOS performs better at higher ISOs, CCD was though to perform better at lower ISOs. High ISO capability is one of the new "must haves" in the market place. CMOS just does better in that area.

CMOS type sensors are far superior in these areas; they use less power, they dissipate less heat, they are much cheaper to manufacture, they have much faster data-throughput speeds (great for movies) but all at the expence of still image quality. The only advantage of the CCD sensor is better still image quality.

How far back do you intend to go to find people that might be even the slightest bit interested in what you have to say?

  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.

Uhm, dude, this is starting to get a bit ridiculous!
Reviving a thread from 2008? That's just pathetic...
