Greetings,
I was not sure whether this issue has been addressed before so I am creating this new thread. When I turn on the liveview on D5000 I see horizontal black lines running up and down. When a picture is taken the lines do not appear on the pic. However if video is recorded then they appear on the video. Is this a glitch? Any way to get rid of these lines from the video? |

I have many DC / DV which would have VERTICAL bright lines when shooting intense lightings. That's normal
But not quite sure about HORIZONTAL lines. |

The horizontal lines dont show in natural light though. Would anyone think its a normal phenomenon under artificial light?

Could you post a snap shot of your D5000's LCD when the problem occurs?

If you look at your manual page 46, it mentions banding in live view also if you look at page 217 there is a box inset there that tells you how to reset in the event of electrical interference.
I personally would phone Nikon UK, as they have been very helpful in the past. Or Nikon USA if thats where you live of course. Banding on the recorded video doesn't sound right.

Could it be the famous "rolling shutter" problem intrinsic to CMOS sensors???
When you are panning too fast, the image captured would be chopped into horiz. "chunks" |
