How many are getting this problem? Oil splashing onto the sensor when the mirror flips up. Small round dots accumulate and wont go away. Ive just sent my Nikon in to have the sensor cleaned. Hopefully they will get rid of the excess oil that is causing the problem.

Why take chances? go by the Murphy's Law; if anything can go wrong, it sure will.
Have Nikon adressed the problem and officially confirmed its removal? |

Ive googled the problem and its not a single case. Its not that widespread I think but its a problem. Nikon will give a cleaning if its under the 1 year warranty but they arent acknowledging it as a common problem with the D7000. Ive had my camera exactly 4 months. Ive put up with the problem for at least half that time.

Hey Bynx,
Seems like this is a problem for others. http://www.flickr.com/groups/d7000-c...7625681752931/ Google "nikon d7000 oil sensor" to see. |

I like how Nikon tries to blame a user for improper handling of the camera causing the spots. Then they show a photo which clearly shows lint and dust and say it is the same and how to clean it. Really irks me.

I have had the D7000 for about two months and havent come across the oil splashing problem. However I am having problem with the dust. I never had dust on my Oly E-510 for the two years I used it. That is a serious problem you have there and I hope its not a common thing. The D7000 is such a wonderful camera and it would be a shame if such occurances are common.

I shipped the camera to Nikon via UPS. It arrives before Noon today. Hopefully in a week from now I will have had some shooting in and be a happy camper. I will let you know the results.
