It just seems really, really pretentious to me to refer to lenses as "glass". Who started that, is it supposed to make you sound like a "pro"? No offense, of course.

It says the same thing and people from all walks of life and all over the world participate on here. Saying flash or speedlight doesn't mean anything unless you want it to. They mean the same thing. I think there is a slim to fat chance you get the idea.

The term "glass" is normally not used in phrases like "kit glass" or "superzoom glass" or anything on the lower end of the performance spectrum. I often refer to quality lenses as "good glass" or my investing in "glass". There is a point that the optical formula, and the expense of the materials and workmanship to manufacture some highly specialized glass components that trumps the rest of the components of the lens. The glass is where the performance comes from. Pretentious, I suppose. |

Hey Sony just came out with a new monster camera (A77) and guess what it has a 3 point pivoting LCD screen!
Yes I know some people will say this is not a professional camera, being only a APS-C sensor but golly 24 MP?! I think the camera's specs look pretty good. Wonder what Nikon and Canon have comming ![]() |
