Sorry, this may be a stupid question, but how often would you need a spare for the D50/D70? I took about 1000 pictures this weekend with a borrowed D70, and no change on the battery indicator. (I'm guessing it will suddenly jump to 50% soon though, as I thought 2000 shots are about max for this camera on one charge..)

I'm guessing you guys are going on longer trips in the wilderness?

Precisely right -- some folks need battery power for weeks with no access to AC mains for their chargers.

yeah, its more of the "forget to charge thing." even though they say li-ion has not memory, i still like to take them down a bit and actually use the battery instead of charging it after every trip and then one day forgetting while i'm on the road. nice to have a spare. specially when you are in a cold environment which effects the life of all batteries to some extent.

anyway, two 1500mAh batteries from ebay, $19 delivered. stock battery is 1400, so if the china model is accurate (probably not) i get 7% more battery life. (1070 pictures?)

while we're on the topic, you can also get a generic remote, delivered for $10. The nikon remote will cost you $25, delivered, on ebay.

Hi :bye:

Does anyone know if the non-oem batteries found on e-bay will work with the Nikon charger that came with the D70 kit?

If it fits your camera it will work with your charger.
